Current trends and promising business opportunities for bio-based colophony, turpentine, CTO and CST derivatives

NOTICE: Due to COVID-19, all our events have been postponed. We will update the information as we can specify details. DATE TO BE DETERMINED, stay tuned.

Portugal will host the third Interregional Workshop on natural resins, at the Instituto Superior de Agonomia headquarters in Lisbon. Under the title Current trends and promising business opportunities for bio-based colophony, turpentine, CTO and CST derivatives, this event is addressed to stakeholders dealing with colophony (rosin) and turpentine and their derivatives, produced from pine oleoresin (crude gum) as well as from crude tall oil (CTO) and crude sulfate turpentine (CST), all these products known as "bio-based derivatives" of the natural resins sector.

Objective: bring together bio-based derivatives industries as a sustainable alternative to fossil-based ones.

More precisely, we aim to:

  1. Detect the major demands and trends in innovation and in development of bio-based derivatives; foster collaboration between industry and academic research.
  2. Detect the new business opportunities for bio-based Mediterranean derivatives, including marketing and traceability issues.
  3. Provide a forum to discuss around:
    1. How bio-based derivatives can be a sustainable alternative to the fossil-based ones?
    2. Which innovations are required by the bio-based derivatives industries?
    3. Which policies are required to foster the bio-based derivatives sector in Europe?
    4. Which marketing, certification and traceability strategies and tools are useful?
