Croatia has great potential for mushroom and truffles utilization and they are the most commonly used non-wood forest products (NWFPs) in Croatia. The sector is still unorganized and faces many problems. Mushroom picking is predominantly a hobby and people collect mushrooms for their own needs but with a better organization and strengthening of the sector, full potential could be reached to stimulate the social and economic development of rural areas. The aim is to present collected knowledge and examples of good practices about the sector in Mediterranean area and collect relevant data and experiences of mushroom and truffle sector stakeholders in Croatia.
