Illegal trade placing Pindos wild orchids at risk, scientists warn

Overharvesting to meet skyrocketing demand in Turkey and elsewhere is placing the endemic wild orchid population in Pindos, northwestern Greece at risk, according to a team of scientists studying the flowers. A key ingredient for the production of salep, a popular sweet drink, and Turkey's mastic ice cream dondurma, the dried orchid is now fetching prices as high as 90-120 euros per kilo on the black market.

Tunisia hosts an International Congress on medicinal plants and Bio-agriculture

An International Congress on "Natural Products: From Plants to Medicaments and Bio-agriculture" ICNP 2018 will take place this Autumn in Hammamet, Tunisia.  The event will be held at the Diar Medina Hotel-Hammamet-Tunisia from 8 -10 November 2018. This event is organized by research staff from the National Research Institute of Rural Engineering, Water and Forests (INRGREF), partner of INCREDIBLE project and Aromatic and Medicinal Plants iNet coordinator.
