The INCREDIBLE project has just launched the open access Knowledge repository for Non-Wood Forest Products! It aims at disseminating innovative solutions to solve technological, social or environmental challenges for non-wood forest products (NWFP) in the Mediterranean. It addresses all points in the value chains of cork, resins, aromatic & medicinal plants, wild mushrooms & truffles and wild nuts & berries. These innovations are summarised in concise factsheets under a standard structure, in English and in a local language. The collection includes different types of information, from academic sources (e.g. scientific publications or project results), to ready-to-implement practices (e.g. practitioner articles, good practices or technical documentation), as well as inspiring examples (e.g. success stories).
The repository is constantly adding new factsheets and we aim to reach 250 by May 2020. Within this plentiful compilation, you can find the most appropriate factsheets using the search engine, or just explore the whole collection by browsing the table of contents or roaming the map, which locates the origin of the innovations. Eager for more information? Each factsheet provides the contact details of the authors (source of first-hand information) and a list of references to enhance your insight.
Would you like to contribute by sharing your innovation? Win a prize with the Knowledge contest!
Do have any innovative knowledge or solution that you would like to share? Are you aware of any innovation that deserves better dissemination in your own country or abroad? You can contribute by helping to write a factsheet and have the chance to be awarded a short technical or scientific visit!
How to proceed? If you are already registered in any innovation network (iNet), please, express your interest to collaborate to your local contact point. They will send you the instructions to submit. If you are not registered in any iNet, please register to the iNet representing your NWFP and the iNet coordinator will contact you. You will have to provide information in your own language covering the sections that appear in all factsheets, as they all share the same template. The INCREDIBLE project guarantees your authorship of the content. All factsheets submitted in this way will automatically participate in the Knowledge contest. A jury will select six finalists: one outstanding factsheet for each NWFP, plus one of a transversal topic. Among them, the author of the best factsheet will be awarded with a short technical or scientific visit (travel expenses covered) to the INCREDIBLE project partner organisation of their choice to facilitate practical or academic on-site knowledge exchange. You have until 31 May 2019 to present your factsheet.
Repository in beta
The knowledge repository is in beta test until 29 February 2020. You are invited to report any bugs or recommendations for improvements by contacting us before the end of February 2020.
The INCREDIBLE project aims to show how Non-Wood Forest Products (NWFP) can play an important role in supporting sustainable forest management and rural development, by creating networks to share and exchange knowledge and expertise. ‘Innovation Networks of Cork, Resins and Edibles in the Mediterranean basin’ (INCREDIBLE) promotes cross-sectoral collaboration and innovation to highlight the value and potential of NWFPs in the region.
‘Innovation Networks of Cork, Resins and Edibles in the Mediterranean basin’ (INCREDIBLE) project receives funding from the European Commission’s Horizon 2020 programme under grant agreement Nº 774632
